About me

I am a fully qualified, (BSc (Hons), Dip. Counselling, MNCS Accred, MBACP) professionally registered Psychotherapist and counsellor. I am also a Clinical Supervisor and provide Supervision to other therapists in practice (specialising in the TA and integrative approach). I trained at The Northern Guild for Psychotherapy,  which is regarded as one of the best training organisations for psychotherapy and counselling in the UK. I am registered as a data controller with the ICO and I am insured and enhanced DBS checked.

I am a Humanistic Integrative therapist, which means my "eclectic" style of therapy is adaptable to the individual. The integrative approach views the client as a whole and considers many different therapy styles and approaches to find what works for the individual, and appeals most to their personality and attachment style. I use many techniques but specialise in Transactional Analysis.  I see my clients as people, not jargon and I don't believe in putting a time limit on the therapeutic process. Everyone is different and has different needs.

I am very experienced and have previously worked as a Senior Counsellor at The Sanctuary in Shildon, (www.sanctuary-shildon.org) as well as my own private practice in Bishop Auckland, County Durham. My offices are comfortable, private, spacious, and COVID secure.

With a background in Psychology and a combined experience of over 9 years, along with my own personal lived experience in a number of areas, I can help with a range of presenting issues. I specialise in, but not limited to working with the following:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Bereavement and loss

  • Identity

  • Confidence and self-esteem

  • Trauma

  • Sexual abuse

  • Anger Management

I offer both weekly and fortnightly face to face therapy sessions, and also Clinical Supervision. I also offer online therapy and supervision sessions via Zoom - Get in touch to find out more.

Does Therapy actually work?

While counselling and psychotherapy are generally regarded as beneficial, please be aware this may not be so in every case. The therapeutic relationship is based on trust and mutual respect, guided by the client's developmental process. The main purpose of the therapeutic setting is to create a space in which to facilitate this development. Therapy may not necessarily be the best option for every presenting issue or life situation.
