About Me

I am a fully qualified and professionally registered Psychotherapist and Counsellor (BSc (Hons), Dip. Counselling, MNCS (Accred), MBACP). I work both online and in person in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, UK. I also work as a Clinical Supervisor, providing supervision to practising therapists, with a special interest in Transactional Analysis (TA) and integrative practice.

I trained at The Northern Guild for Psychotherapy, widely recognised as one of the UK’s leading training organisations for psychotherapy and counselling. I am fully insured, enhanced DBS checked, and registered as a data controller with the ICO.

✨ Therapy Approaches I Offer ✨

Everyone’s story is different — which is why therapy shouldn’t be one-size-fits-all. I offer a range of evidence-based approaches to support you in a way that feels right for your needs, goals, and experiences.

🧠 Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT)

A structured approach designed to help you process traumatic experiences, reduce distressing symptoms, and build practical coping tools for everyday life.

🌿 Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

DBT supports emotional regulation, managing intense feelings, improving relationships, and developing healthier coping skills — especially when life feels overwhelming.

🔍 Psychodynamic & Psychoanalytic Therapy

This approach explores deeper patterns, unconscious influences, and past experiences to help you better understand yourself and create lasting change.

💬 Transactional Analysis (TA)

TA focuses on communication, relationship patterns, and the roles we take on in life. It can help you build healthier boundaries, improve self-awareness, and shift unhelpful behaviours.

🕊 Bereavement Counselling

A compassionate space to process grief and loss at your own pace, in a way that honours your unique experience.

❤️ Couples Therapy

A safe, supportive space for couples to improve communication, rebuild trust, navigate challenges, and strengthen connection.

🌟 Coming in 2027 — EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing)!

I’m thrilled to be expanding my toolkit with EMDR next year — a powerful, evidence-based approach especially helpful for trauma, distressing memories, and stuck emotional patterns. I can’t wait to offer this as an additional way to help you heal and feel more empowered.

If you’re unsure which approach is right for you, we can explore this together. Therapy is a collaborative journey, and you don’t have to figure it out alone.

Does Therapy actually work?

While counselling and psychotherapy are generally regarded as beneficial, please be aware this may not be so in every case. The therapeutic relationship is based on trust and mutual respect, guided by the client's developmental process. The main purpose of the therapeutic setting is to create a space in which to facilitate this development. Therapy may not necessarily be the best option for every presenting issue or life situation.
